I dig the kick you used, it was the perfect blend of hardcore kick and trancey.

I like the acoustic break in the middle, pretty badass. might wanna take out that higher synth. It doens't really fit the rest of the song. The lower one was good.

Keep it up, man!

December 23, 2009

Author's Response:

Glad you liked it. The higher synth was an accident. I thought i set it to pitch setting 4, but it's actually set to 1. I'll fix it right away and repost it.

what the fuck is up with the score?? I think the drums were pretty original, and had a nice flow.

Might want to add a sub-bass. Look it up on youtube if you dont know that that is. lol.

Catchy, and original. Totally doesn't deserve the score... :P

December 23, 2009

Author's Response:

Thanks for the advice. I've been trying to get sub-bass sound pools, but the downloads get cut off. I'll see if i can download it through a torrent

Holy... Fuckin... SHIT! This is so badass.

You did a really good job, i like this one much better than mine. lol.

Nothin at all to complain about. lolz.

Thanks for doin this, tristen. I'll work on yours soon as i get the nexus thing to work :D

Amazing job, Dude!

December 23, 2009

Author's Response:

Haha.

Really?! Glad you like it so much man!

You probably don't need to download Nexus. Just open the file and copy everything over to Sytrus or whatever other plugins you wanna use. That should work.

Thanks for the ten man! I appreciate it :D

Im diggin' this, man!

It reminds me of some of my stuff... haha. except mine isn't as good.. XD

I loved how it flowed from one pattern to another seamlessly. This is really good shit, man.

The break in the middle was perfect. haha. What piano sample did you use?

Good use of filters.

Lookin forward to the other11

December 21, 2009

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review! The sample I used for the piano was actually just the fl keys plug in modified on hardness and a few other areas with reverb and delay. I love using FL keys and making lots of different sounds with it. I also love making and listening to songs that have energy and calmness mixed in. Blood gets pumpin', downtime, then back to energy with a groove to it.

"The Ice House" was a nice track. It can be improved, but it just takes more time to learn how. You got some nice filters and stuff on it to give a nice atmosphere to it. With more practice on FL I'm sure you will do great things. Thanks for reviewing again.

I liked this, pretty relaxing. The chord progression you used was pretty original, nothin like what gets blasted on the front page every week.

The drums fit in perfectly. Nothin really to complain about.

a first, for me....

Looking forward to the rest of the Songs of the Year.

Author's Response:

Thanks for this review too! I just remember the best thing about the PS2 Castlevania games... the music. I loved the dark feel to some of the tracks with a beat with subtle feelings and strings for a full atmosphere, so I figured I'd make one that sounded close, yet different at the same time. I also got some inspiration from the soundtrack from the movie "Rose Red". I know this isn't my best track, but it really sounds like a song that could be in Castlevania, which is all I cared about. Thanks again!

Liked it, could easily see this playing on the radio sometime. lol.

With better mixing, this would be amazing-er!

Did you use real instruments or was this on the computer.

and was it just you, or a band.? lol

Good work. loved the laid back feel.

That green loop thing was playing while this was playing, hahaha.

I like the atmosphere in this song. The Synths were a little to bell-sounding, might wanna make them more saw-like for this kind of song.

and maybe a lower bass.. lol.

I like the composition, and the structure was good, nice n catchy. :D

I like it!

I always love your style, its kinda hard to describe. :D

I could tell that you spent alot mroe time with this one, it just seemed not as rushed as some of your others.

The piano melody was catchy, i found myself humming with it.
The piano was from sytrus, amirite???

Now its my turn to say... i dont like the kick. haha. It needs to be a little "harder" for such a fast tempo.

The melodies seemed kinda slow for a 200 BPM, i think thats cool, pretty unusual.

Keep up the work, fuckin elmo, You have no idea how much you've improved since the first time i herd your music. :D

December 11, 2009

Author's Response:

Heeey! I can't really describe my style either...it's like a combo of techno, trance, dance...I think?

Yeah, I actually spent about 9 hours on this :O Whilst on my other songs I spent from about an hour and a half to 3 hours.

It took me a while to think up those melodies. I probably spent about a good hour on each of them.

You're right about the kick. I'll try making it "harder" :D

Yes the piano IS from Nexus :D It's the Ballad Grand Piano preset.

I'm glad you like my music man! I appreciate hearing that I've improved, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :D

Thanks for the 10!!
